GOLDWIN to Partner with France’s Cityzen Sciences to Develop Wearable Sensing Technology for Rugby Teams

GOLDWIN Inc. (HQ: Shibuya, Tokyo/President: Akio Nishida/First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange: 8111) and Canterbury of New Zealand Japan Inc. (HQ: Shinjuku, Shibuya/President: Kunio Morimoto), one of GOLDWIN’s group companies, have signed a joint development agreement with France’s Cityzen Sciences on April 16. Using wearable sensing technology, the companies will jointly develop software and “smart” shirts equipped with measuring devices for realizing optimal physical training and game tactics.

Specifically, the joint project tackles the development of software and rugby shirts equipped with not only GPS but also measuring devices capable of monitoring over ten types of bio-indicators of as many as 25 team members real time. The new technology is designed to help achieve effective training and game strategy analysis.

No other team sport is more physically demanding than rugby, which involves running, tackling, scrumming, and other full-body movements and collisions. The new technology leverages real-time physical data of team members to help develop high-performance training programs and cutting-edge strategies, ultimately maximizing the team’s potential.

In pursuit of its corporate mission of “creating a rewarding lifestyle through sports,” GOLDWIN is moving forward with the joint development project to deliver new value-added sportswear and provide support for all sports enthusiasts.
