Business Operations About

Goldwin is a lifestyle creative company. Its business is built around monozukuri (the art of making things), kotozukuri (creating values), and Kankyozukuri (creating places and opportunities). Through its involvement in sports and outdoor activities, the company supports humanity in trying new endeavors and opportunities.
While conducting advanced research on materials, techniques, technologies, and the environment on a daily basis, we share the insights and ideas of our brands that have diverse contexts and expertise. This helps us continue to evolve our manufacturing and communications.
From sports to everyday life, we aim to maximize human performance, reduce environmental impact as much as possible, and enrich the natural world where people play and live.

We do not wait for others to act but take it upon ourselves to lead the way to a brighter future.

Monozukuri

Our products are made to offer the best in performance, pleasure, and peace of mind in every situation — from living on the edge to sleeping at day’s end

We research, develop, and manufacture apparel that enables people to perform at their best, from world-class athletes and climbers scaling the highest peaks to those going about everyday activities.

The technology and knowledge gathered through our experience find their way into sportswear and lifestyle products that are meticulously detailed. From the mountains, oceans, and forests to the world’s cities, stadiums, streets, and homes, we connect people to their surroundings with products that adapt to each environment and situation.

Goldwin was founded in Oyabe City, Toyama Prefecture, where our headquarters is still located. There, we work with material manufacturers and production factories to closely manage everything from yarn and material selection to processing, pattern design, sewing, and quality control, taking responsibility for every step of the manufacturing process.
In 2017, we established the Goldwin Tech Lab, where we conduct tireless research in areas such as environmental effects on physiology and experimental manufacturing, including the development of functional clothing that responds to body movements, as well as product testing to ensure the highest quality standards.

Goldwin is also active in developing products that reduce environmental impact, such as clothing with Brewed Protein™ fiber made of structural protein, jointly developed with bio-venture company Spiber. We are also committed to circular manufacturing, actively promoting the collection, recycling, and repair of our products.

Kotozukuri

Shaping new relationships with nature and sports through play and experiences

In 2021, Goldwin introduced the concept of Play Earth as a way to forge better relationships between people and nature through play, and continues to provide children who will lead the future with opportunities and places through initiatives such as Play Earth Park.

With “deportare” — the Latin base of the word “sports”— as their keyword, the initiatives help children interact with nature’s ecology and phenomena through play, the origin of sports, and intuitively grasp where this world comes from and what it means to live with it. Play Earth aims to let the accumulation of such experiences establish real understanding in children of their surroundings.
Play gives birth to both new adventures and new rules. It can open children’s minds to sports, science, and nature, and nurture many other possibilities to pursue in the future. We intend to create places where playing well can reveal opportunities to make a better future for the Earth.

Also under this concept, our Play Earth Adventure program has entered into an official partnership with the Ministry of the Environment and operates the National Parks of Japan project. This makes possible a range of experiences in the country’s world-famous national parks. Furthermore, the program offers a variety of experiences through play, sports, and activities featuring brands within our portfolio, including The North Face Kid’s Nature School and Neutralworks.’ body conditioning services.

Kankyozukuri

A place that enriches both people and nature to bring joy

We plan to open a forest re-creation project named Play Earth Naturing Forest in Tonami City, Toyama Prefecture, in 2027.
With playgrounds, gardens, restaurants, shops, and accommodations, it will be a future-oriented, experiential, outdoor complex that reconnects manmade and natural activities, which were inseparable in the past. Through the experience of time spent in nature, we hope to ignite thinking from various angles about the environmental problems caused by consumerism.

While applying ideas, technology, and communication to help solve monozukuri’s negative aspects toward the environment, we hope that our kotozukuri and providing such places prompt people to deepen their awareness and change their behavior, and to rethink our relationship with nature.
