Goldwin Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Takao Watanabe) will open Goldwin Shenzhen, the company’s seventh directly operated store for its original Goldwin brand in mainland China, in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, on Saturday, June 21, 2025.

Goldwin Shenzhen is set to open inside MixCity, a major commercial complex in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province.

One of China’s four major cities, Shenzhen is rapidly developing as a special economic zone adjacent to Hong Kong. As a global hub for technology and innovation, it hosts many high-tech companies and is recognized for its youthful energy and dynamic growth.

Located in Luohu District, the center of Shenzhen’s economic development, MixCity is home to many major IT firms and startups. This upscale shopping mall features a variety of luxury fashion brands and is easily accessible from Grand Theater Station on the subway. Goldwin Shenzhen will open on the ground floor with direct street access, positioned to attract high foot traffic in this bustling area.

After announcing the Goldwin 500 project in April 2024, an initiative aimed at driving global growth for the Goldwin brand, the company has accelerated its store expansion in mainland China. As part of its strategy to open directly operated stores of the highest quality, Goldwin aims to further enhance its global recognition.


■Spatial concept | Goldwin Shenzhen
The concept of “layered chi” arises from the conceptual combination of the knowledge (chiken) Goldwin has accumulated and geological strata (chiso) formed by eon-spanning natural processes. With Goldwin’s Beijing store serving as benchmark, this concept has now been extended into specific forms, allowing the entire structure to express Goldwin’s brand philosophy.
Combining respect for nature with human ingenuity, the lap siding of the facade uses panels of sandstone, evocative of deep time. These overlapping panels suggest geological strata, hinting at wisdom built in layers, and create intricate, atmospheric striations of light and shadow on the facade’s surface.
The interior space is narrow but deep, with more sandstone wall panels imparting a sense of gravity. By contrast, the display islands and benches have a lightweight feel. Structured as extensions of the “Goldwin stool” created from a single piece of timber and taking abstractions of the Goldwin logo as their motif, they imbue the space with a distinctive texture.
Materials from nature and hard-won human insight into structure: this warm, refined space exists at the intersection of these two “strata,” inviting visitors into a world of deep dialogue with the brand’s spirit of inquiry.
