are unveiled and go on sale
November 30, 2016 - GOLDWIN Inc. (HQ: Shibuya, Tokyo/President: Akio Nishida/First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange: 8111) has unveiled its MOON PARKA® prototype, an outerwear made with synthetic spider silk material jointly developed by Goldwin Inc. and Spiber Inc., at The North Face global flagship store, which The North Face, an American strategic partner of Goldwin Inc., had newly opened on Fifth Avenue in New York City.
The MOON PARKA® prototype is made of a synthetic spider silk material called QMONOS™, developed by Spiber Inc. (Representative Executive Officer: Kazuhide Sekiyama/HQ: 234-1, Mizukami Kakuganji, Tsuruoka, Yamagata) using its proprietary technology. The prototype was manufactured on an existing commercial garment production line, which has never been done before. The North Face viewed it as the ultimate expression of its mission, “Never Stop Exploring,” and as a gesture of appreciation, decided to showcase it at the flagship store.
The prototype was first unveiled in Japan in October 2015 and commercial sales there are scheduled to start in 2017. The commercial launch date in the US is to be determined.
In conjunction with the MOON PARKA prototype display, Japan Collections, including the UNLIMITED collection developed exclusively by GOLDWIN, were unveiled and made available for the first time in the US.
The UNLIMITED collection has been sold in Japan since fall 2015. It is a full line of clothing, footwear and accessories designed to be suitable for business, travel and daily wear. Each item is equipped with functionality obtained through our extensive experience of developing offerings for the outdoor scene. This will be a completely new value proposition in the US.
More than 100 styles from Japan, including a selection from the UNLIMITED collection, are now available at The North Face stores on Fifth Avenue, New York City, and at Jackson Square, San Francisco.
