―Expanding into the Third Major Global City, Following London and Seoul―
Goldwin Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Takao Watanabe) will open Goldwin New York, the company’s U.S. flagship store for its original Goldwin brand, in SoHo, New York, USA, on Friday, April 24, 2026.

Goldwin New York will open on Lafayette Street, a trendsetting hub at the crossroads of SoHo and Nolita in Manhattan. This iconic neighborhood, where the cultures of sports, the outdoors, streetwear, and luxury converge, inspires new values and styles that resonate around the world.
By opening a street-level store on this vibrant corridor to serve as a platform for brand communication, Goldwin aims to attract highly trend-conscious customers.
Viewing the U.S. West Coast as a hub of sports and outdoor culture, Goldwin operated Goldwin San Francisco—its first overseas, directly managed store—in San Francisco, California, from November 2019 to October 2025. With this store serving as its base, the company’s U.S. e-commerce operations received as many orders from New York as from California, indicating strong potential in the East Coast market. These findings, along with the company’s firsthand insights into the U.S. market’s response to its products and services and into local customer needs, have led to the opening of Goldwin New York.
Goldwin is currently evolving its strategy to deliver the brand’s aesthetic sensibility and its meticulous, thoughtful approach to monozukuri (the art of making things) to a broader, global market. Under its Global Niche Strategy, the company is carefully selecting globally influential cities and neighborhoods in which to establish stores that enhance its presence as a premium sports brand.
Following the April 2024 announcement of Goldwin 500, a project aimed at advancing the global growth of the Goldwin brand, the company has been accelerating store openings in mainland China and has launched Goldwin London in January 2026 and Goldwin Seoul in February 2026.
Strategically located as a hub for promoting the functionality and aesthetics of Goldwin products and its emphasis on connecting cities with nature, the New York store will accelerate the brand’s growth on the U.S. East Coast. It also embodies Goldwin’s new growth strategy by serving as a global communication hub alongside the London store.
The company’s global flagship stores will help generate synergies as it aims to strengthen its presence in Europe and the U.S. while driving momentum across East Asia through dynamic brand communication and outreach.
■Spatial concept |Goldwin New York
New York is vital cultural and artistic centers where encounters between residents and visitors from around the world spark countless new stories every day. Our stores in these cities are inspired by the idea of the “eye of the hurricane”—spaces where the weight of history and cutting-edge trends combine into new ideas streaming into the future.
Both stores are centered around a ring-shaped yashiro, literally “shrine,” in the middle of the main shop floor visible behind the glass façade. This yashiro is a stage for Goldwin to present its style and principles to the world, inviting visitors into the heart of the story. The items arranged around the yashiro are beloved Goldwin classics and standards, turning the entire space into a store window on a grand scale, capturing the eye of every passer-by.
The outer perimeter of the yashiro, visible from the street outside, bears twelve vertical LED screens on columns. These screens serve as digital canvases on which to project dizzying changing trends and images from nature. From organic images moving in sync with the city’s energy to cutting-edge video art, the screens are as ever-changing as a living thing.
Inside the yashiro, a colonnade of Akita Sugi timber stands like a silent forest, symbolizing traditional Japanese aesthetics and soothing the hearts of visitors. This haven of tranquility creates a vital contrast with the dynamic exterior.
The fitting rooms, the most private spaces in each store, have walls hung with fabric panels dyed using traditional Japanese technique. The gently glimmering pink of Kakishibu dyeing and the warmth of handcraft impart a special exaltation.
New York: Goldwin store is a nexus where tradition meets innovation and art meets technology. Far more than simple apparel stores, they seek to inspire visitors and position Goldwin’s style as a guidepost showing the way to a new age.
New Material Research Laboratory

To coincide with the opening of Goldwin New York, the company will release the second edition of the Goldwin 0 Performance Capsule, a running gear collection from Goldwin 0. As an experimental platform, it is designed to unlock the brand’s potential.
To celebrate the launch, the company will simultaneously hold Motion Studies—a multi-themed running initiative that explores body movement and the mind through running—in five cities around the world: New York (USA), London (UK), Seoul (Korea), Hangzhou (mainland China), and Marunouchi (Japan).
■ Second Edition of Goldwin 0 Performance Capsule
This collection combines technology from Goldwin Tech Lab, our R&D facility in Toyama, with the unique interpretation and design of Goldwin 0 Creative Director Nur Abbas to create lightweight, versatile gear customized to the unique needs of runners.
The priority for the spring/summer season is to analyze the body parts most subject to sun exposure, heat retention, and sweating during running by applying body mapping in a highly strategic manner. Based on this analysis, reflective ventilation holes are placed in optimal positions throughout the garment to help deliver targeted ventilation, enhance visibility, and effectively regulate internal temperature. In this way, the collection’s products seamlessly integrate high-performance functionality with sophisticated design.

■Store Design:New Material Research Laboratory
New Material Research Laboratory is an architectural firm co-founded by artist Hiroshi Sugimoto and architect Tomoyuki Sakakida in 2008. Notwithstanding its name, New Material Research Laboratory examines materials from ancient and medieval times and focuses its activities on reinterpreting and reimagining the use of these materials in the present. Taking a stand against today’s standardized and superficial construction materials, they daringly explore the architectural possibilities of traditional materials that are difficult to handle, as well as preserving and improving on the elaborate skills and knowledge of expert artisans.
Hiroshi Sugimoto and Tomoyuki Sakakida are well aware of the significance of their advanced challenge and they continue to conceive bold architectural design incorporating traditional materials while eschewing current architectural trends.
