—The Second Kansai Store “Goldwin Shinsaibashi” to Open on Friday, July 31—
Goldwin Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Takao Watanabe) will open Goldwin Shinsaibashi, the second Kansai store of the company’s original brand “Goldwin,” on Friday, July 31 on the second floor of Shinsaibashi PARCO.

Located in Shinsaibashi, the commercial hub of Osaka’s Minami district, Shinsaibashi PARCO is a commercial facility that brings together diverse sensibilities across fashion, culture, art, food, and more. Directly linked to Shinsaibashi Station on the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line, the location enjoys excellent access. Beyond the local clientele, it attracts large numbers of visitors from across Japan and around the world. In this neighborhood, demand from fashion-conscious shoppers converges with broader visitor demand driven by tourism and business.
In the Kansai region—Japan’s second-largest economic zone—this store opening follows the May 2025 opening of Goldwin Kyoto, a flagship store that expresses Goldwin’s brand identity through space and design. In tune with the diverse sensibilities of fashion, culture, art, and more that converge at Shinsaibashi PARCO, Goldwin Shinsaibashi will serve as a trend-focused store that conveys Goldwin’s brand worldview of connecting the city and nature through collaborations and the latest collections.
Since its founding as a skiing brand, Goldwin has embraced the monozukuri (the art of making things) spirit of “Dedication to Detail.” True to this principle, we have delivered brand experiences through our self-operated stores, which offer products that embody designs grounded in functionality and Japanese aesthetics, together with thoughtful, sophisticated customer experiences.
By operating stores that serve differentiated roles in the Kansai region, we aim to convey Goldwin’s brand worldview, increase awareness, and expand customer touch points, thereby further enhancing our presence as a brand that reaches a global audience.
In addition, exclusively at Goldwin Shinsaibashi, we will launch a souvenir collection featuring a logo designed by graphic designer Shun Sasaki. To mark the launch of Goldwin Shinsaibashi, we revisited the material used for our T-shirts and adopted the next-generation, plant-derived material PlaX™ (*1) to express the brand’s character. PlaX™ was developed by Bioworks Corporation, an investee of our group company Goldwin Venture Partners Inc. The T-shirt is made from a fabric that blends PlaX™ and cotton, giving it a relaxed-fit design. Because PlaX™ touches the skin, the fabric offers antibacterial, odor-control performance, curbing the growth of odor-causing bacteria on the fabric’s surface. In addition, the fabric is produced using MVS® (*2) air-jet spinning, which helps minimize fuzz, resists pilling, and helps prevent changes in texture caused by washing or friction.
*1: PlaX™ is a new material created by adding a proprietary, independently developed plant-derived additive to polylactic acid (PLA), a biomass material made from plants such as sugarcane. The additive improves both quality and functionality by drawing on Bioworks Corporation’s molecular composition technology. The lactic acid in the material provides antibacterial and deodorizing properties that curb the growth of odor-causing bacteria on the fabric’s surface. In addition, the proprietary technology overcomes the durability, heat-resistance, and dyeability challenges that have thus far hindered the widespread use of PLA. To help address environmental issues and build a sustainable, circular economy, this technology is expected to be applied across a wide range of products, including existing petroleum-derived synthetic fibers and plastics.
“PlaX™” is a registered trademark of Bioworks Corporation.
*2: “MVS®” is a registered trademark of Murata Machinery, Ltd.

■Goldwin Shinsaibashi Design Concept
Goldwin’s Shinsaibashi store combines the brand’s “layered chi” concept, in which Goldwin’s long-cultivated knowledge and insight are put in conversation with the beauty of geological strata formed by millennia of weathering, with the idea of wind streaming steadily through.
The store’s all-glass facade faces the second floor of a bustling shopping arcade. A split bamboo louvre flows horizontally across the glass, quieting the noise from outside to an appropriate level. This turns the store into a mild, peaceful domain, as if to invite the feel of the wind in.
The core of the space is the shop floor, dominated by a stage of Ikuno Tanba stone. Positioned as a kind of stone altar symbolizing the relationship between humanity and nature, the stage also functions as a special space for expressing the twenty-four traditional microseasons. Above the stone’s rough surface, inscribed with the weathering of eons, is suspended a large andon lantern made using silk woven in Toyama, where Goldwin began. The soft light filtered through silk resonates with the quiet power of the natural stone to create deep shadows and impart a tranquil beauty to the space.
The large counter table’s backboards and the fitting room furniture are made from paulownia wood. Paulownia is appreciated for its ability to develops into a large, spreading tree, while bamboo grows vigorously but bends gracefully in the wind rather than snapping. The use of these two together was inspired by the auspicious traditional Kiritake Ho’o motif. The carefully considered positioning of the paulownia’s dense and exquisite grain, along with the crisp finishing touches that evoke a clean, fresh atmosphere, embody the Goldwin principle of “Dedication to Detail.”
Geological strata carved by time and the never-ending search for the next stage in evolution, driven by wisdom and insight, are woven together by the idea of wind streaming through the space. Here the materials speak of depth of time that is in harmony with the intention palpable in every detail, and we strove to express the Goldwin spirit of breathing fresh ideas into the souls of all who visit while changing ceaselessly with the times.
