The North Face to supply uniforms for Japan’s sport climbing team for the 10th year in a row since 2005
The North Face, marketed exclusively in Japan by GOLDWIN Inc. (GOLDWIN Inc. (HQ: Shibuya, Tokyo / President: Akio Nishida / First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange: 8111), will return as the official uniform supplier for Japan’s national sport climbing team. The brand has been the official supplier of the national team uniform for 10 years since 2005.

With the next week’s world championships fast approaching, I was so excited to receive the Japan National Team’s uniform made by The North Face.
In addition to the competition uniform featuring a unique design and ease of movement, the team members will also be competing in The North Face parkas and shell jackets with cold protection.
We even have vests specially designed for award ceremonies.
Wearing the uniform makes me feel all psyched up for the game. I can feel the adrenaline kicking in and my focus getting sharp. It’s my winner’s uniform!

Profile: Born on May 30, 1989, Akiyo Noguchi first discovered free climbing when she was in Grade 5. Noguchi won the national youth competition in the following year and soon began to make her mark as a rising star.
In 2008, Noguchi became the first Japanese woman to win the World Cup, held in France. She also became the overall winner of the year, and retained the title for the second year in 2009 (first Japanese to do so). In 2010, Noguchi rose to No. 1 in the boulder category of the IFSC Climbing World Cup, and No. 2 in the overall category. She has continued to make outstanding achievements in other international and national competitions, participating in world competitions as one of Japan’s foremost world-class climbers.
Noguchi has also achieved great results in outdoor climbing. Among the routes she climbed on-sight include: “Cinderella Boy” (5.13a/b) in Seaside Area in Shizuoka and “Hidakagenryu Esaoman” (5.13b) in Akaiwa Seigankyo in Hokkaido. She successfully redpointed “Mind Control” (8c+/5.14C) in Oliana, Spain, and became the first Japanese woman to redpoint this grade.
The 2014 IFSC Climbing World Cup is scheduled to be broadcasted via the CS channel Sky A starting in May. The program will introduce the highlights of the 2014 World Cup and the basic facts of climbing.
